Description
7,900 mile Italian Off-road Convertible
A low-mile, all original, one of a kind find 4x4 from the mountains of Northern Italy. This amazing Fiat Campagnola with removable hardtop is believed to have had just three owners from new. The first was the Cimego Volunteer Fire Department who had it in service from 1985 til 2009.
This Car’s Past
Purchased new for the Cimego Volunteer Fire Department by the Servizio Anticendi e Protezione Civile di Trento in 1985, this amazing Fiat 4 cylinder, gasoline powered 4x4 remained in service until sold by the Trento Government in 2009 to dealer/collector KFZ Handel Haspel of Bonn Germany. It was then offered to North Carolina based We Love Cool Cars in 2014 through a German friend and brought to the USA with 10,090 kilometers (6,269 miles). Over the past two years, the Campagnola has seen mild and regular use, as evidenced by the 12,745 kilometer currently shown on the odometer. It has been serviced regularly, wears new tires and has had the rear axle u-joints replaced. Imported in 2014, this Campagnola has a free and clear US title and a removable hardtop.
History of The Model
The Fiat Campagnola is a heavy-duty off-road vehicle produced by Fiat. Production started in 1951 and it was upgraded in 1974. From 1975 until the end of production in 1987, it was delivered to every Italian armed service in many versions with gas or diesel engine, standard or long wheelbase and canvas or hard top. With high and low range two and four wheel drive, the Campagnola was Italy's answer to the Land Rover.
Preservation History
This Campagnola is cosmetically the same as the day it was delivered to the Fuoco Volontari di Cimego (Cimego Volunteer Fire Department). It has had routine maintenance and continuous upkeep for the past 31 years, but still wears it's original paint and interior.
Market Trend
There is nothing like this amazing find to ever come to market for public sale. An average condition privately owned example with normal mileage would have a $7,000 to $10,000 asking price on the Italian market.
Summary
It's highly unlikely that you're ever going to see another Italian Volunteer Fire services 4x4 convertible transport vehicle like this one again. It's rarity, originality, selectable two-wheel or four-wheel drive train, bench seats and removable hardtop make this a collector vehicle with more options for use than almost any other.
