Description
The Ferrari Testarossa was first presented to a group of dealers in Modena on September 24, 1984. The following day, they had the opportunity to test-drive two prototypes at the Imola Circuit, piloted by the in-house testers. On October 2, the public unveiling took place at the Lido de Paris, just before the opening of the Paris Motor Show, where 37 orders were placed. Crafted under the supervision of Angelo Bellei, with Nicola Materazzi in charge of the engine, Maurizio Rossi handling the experimental aspect, and Leonardo Fioravanti directing the design at Pininfarina, this new Ferrari, boasting a top speed of 290 km/h, stood as the fastest model ever produced by the brand at that time. Fun fact: the “flying mirror”'s origin stems from a misinterpretation of a law. Indeed, the designers mistakenly believed that a European law required it to provide complete rear visibility coverage.
The model presented here is one of the 447 units manufactured to European specifications in 1985. It will undergo a substantial service, including the belts, just after this auction sale, ensuring it is ready for immediate use without any worries. It will come with its service booklet and user manual in their pouch, but also its spare wheel.
