Ferrari had enjoyed especially noteworthy success with the 355, the company’s most popular model produced up to that time, and so it was only fitting to commemorate the end of the model’s long production run in 1999 with a special model. The Serie Fiorano, as the name suggested, offered beauty that was more than skin deep. Its chassis was tuned with competition-oriented stiffer springs and roll bars, as well as a wider track, while a faster steering rack and drilled and ventilated brakes added to the especially sporting driving experience. Emphasizing the more visceral nature of the model, the body was fitted with the rear grille from the Challenge model, and the interior was outfitted with a suede steering wheel and numerous carbon fiber trim pieces.

It was announced that only 100 of this model would be produced; in the end, a total of 104 were made, many of which were immediately acquired by collectors who realized that this was no mere appearance package but actually the finest roadgoing F355 ever produced.

The example offered here was the 49th Serie Fiorano car built. It was finished in Argento Nürburgring over Nero interior, with the F1 gearbox and power windows and top. According to its service booklet, it was originally sold by Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York. It was acquired in early 2015 by Terence E. Adderley, a Ferrari customer in good standing for three decades, whose private collection included numerous important examples of the marque from the 1970s to the present day. Fitted with a Tubi exhaust, the car has recorded 13,400 miles at the time of cataloguing, and is complete with its original tool kit and books. It has recently undergone a service by Cauley Ferrari of West Bloomfield, Michigan in preparation for sale, and it has had its “sticky buttons” corrected.

This beautifully presented, low-mileage, and unusually muscular example of the most desirable 355 F1 roadgoing variant is now proudly offered, as one of the final Ferraris from one of the Midwest’s most distinguished collections of the marque. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/auctions/mi24/.
