OVERVIEW
Originally developed as the 550 Maranello, this series was designed to capture the essence of Ferrari’s legendary 275 GTB and 365 GTB/Daytona. Much like these historically important Ferraris, the Pininfarina styling evoked elegance and muscularity infused with contemporary technology. The beautifully proportioned body concealed a front mounted V12 engine and a rear-mounted 6-speed manual transaxle, unifying delightful sport motoring in a capable and agile GT touring car.

In 2002, the 575M arrived with advanced aerodynamics, adaptive suspension, and Bosch Motronic fuel-injection, all of which substantially improved driving manners. By 2005, the final and most refined iteration of this series was launched. Celebrating the original Superamerica designs from the 1960s, the most notable exterior feature was the retractable roof panel which, at the touch of a button, rotated and nested at the rear of the car, reconfiguring it to open touring configuration. The roof itself was a marvel of engineering incorporating a lightweight carbon fiber structure topped with electrochromatic glass developed in partnership with Saint Gobain. When positioned in coupe form, the patented “Revocromico” variable tint roof delivered a rigid structure, yet when open, the reinforced A-pillars and sturdy sail panels offered the same structural integrity. The higher output Superamerica V12 featured 533 hp coupled with advanced aerodynamics making it the fastest convertible at that time, achieving a top speed of 199 mph. Comfort featured refined leather interiors, premium audio, automatic climate control, and the optional GTC handling package. Ferrari built 559 examples of the Superamerica, 170 of which were allotted for the US market and sold out upon release. A mere 43 of the total production were outfitted from the factory with the highly desirable 6-speed manual transmission.

This Superamerica was assembled at the Ferrari in June 2005 and delivered to Ferrari of Seattle where it was sold to the current and only owner. The singular and current owner of this very rare car optioned his Superamerica with the GTC handling package which included Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, tuned suspension, split-rim 19” alloy wheels, and sport exhaust. Additionally, the owner selected the stunning rich leather interior featuring Daytona seats, headrest Cavallinos, red dial tachometer, and 6-speed manual transmission. Given this combination of attractive colors, and desirable options, it’s likely to be one of a handful of Superamericas built to this specification. Best of all, the condition is superb including recent belt service, comprehensive sticky button restoration, and a smooth functioning electrochromatic roof showing no cracks or delamination. Having joyfully accrued approximately 65k miles under singular ownership, the owner was meticulous with factory fluid, filters, and mechanical services, frequently driving the car from Seattle to San Francisco during the warmer months of the year.

Today this Superamerica presents as a beautifully maintained example worthy of the rarity and unique specifications. Finished in Grigio Silverstone over Natural Leather interior, the beautiful colors combine to create an elegant, understated exterior with a refined sporting interior. The original factory finish is glossy throughout all body panels, with the rear bumper cap refinished for cosmetic improvement. The factory glass is in excellent condition including the beautiful retractable glass roof panel and carbon structure. The lighting and lenses are in excellent condition with no notable chips, crazing, or significant blemishes. The emblems and script are also very well preserved. The doors, hood, and trunk all open and shut smoothly, exhibiting excellent panel fit including sturdy strut supports for the hood and trunk. The 19” wheels are in near mint condition and wear brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Red Brembo brake calipers over carbon-ceramic discs peer aggressively through the modular aluminum five spoke wheels.

The interior of the car is in especially nice condition. The switches, air vents, and various knobs, often found over time to be sticky in this series Ferrari, have been professionally reconditioned. The interior color combination is both elegant and sporty, recalling the look and feel of the original and inspiring Daytona with the unique seat inserts. The leather is supple and smooth with excellent surfacing and only standard wear throughout the cabin. The dashboard, instruments and switches are all in excellent condition.

In all, the interior is remarkably fresh with excellent fit and finish befitting a car of this stature. The rear storage area remains essentially new, factory original, and beautifully preserved. Given the one-owner history, proper care, and regular dealer services, the quality and excellence of this car speaks highly of the Ferrari brand and the dedicated owner who confidently enjoyed this car just as Ferrari intended.

Under the hood, the amazing Ferrari V12 engine has been properly serviced including a recent belt and full fluid and filters service. The original fittings and hardware showcase not only the technical capacity of Ferrari as a company, but their ongoing delight fulfilling mechanical engineering with artful excellence, even though much of this is concealed under the hood. Ferrari number plates, factory paint code indication, and verification markings are in place and in excellent condition. The undercarriage, including suspension components, exhaust system, and hardware are factory correct displaying no visual indication of structural compromise to the chassis, suspension components or damage to the aerodynamic chassis shields.

The car drives and shifts beautifully via the 6-speed manual gearbox. The V-12 engine delivers surprisingly quick jaunts to highway speeds, offering superb stability and high-speed control via the optional GTC handling package. Road manners are exactly as described when contemporary automotive press praised the Superamerica for its performance and ease of use.

Overall, this Ferrari is ideal for anyone seeking a premier example of one of the most impressive front-engine V12 supercars of this era. This Superamerica is accompanied by service records from the original/current owner a complete Ferrari tool set in and set of factory manuals, all housed in beautiful Ferrari leather cases.

This beautiful Ferrari 575 Superamerica is a proverbial unicorn as one of 43 6-speed manual transmission examples. Beyond its superlative color combination and scarce specification (one of as few as 19 fitted with the manual gearbox and GTC Handling package), this example also benefits from single ownership and comprehensive servicing, as well as a fully operational and undamaged Revochromico roof panel. Further optioned with Daytona seats and the desirable GTC handling package, this distinctive combination of power and prestige perfectly heralds the Superamerica legacy – unifying elegance and performance in a superlative sports car.
