Description

Introduced in 2000 at Paris International Motor Show the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina commemorated the 70th anniversary of Pininfarina’s existence. Hugely in demand, the Barchetta production was limited to just 448 examples of which only 42 were constructed with Right Hand Drive.

This car was first owned by long term Ferrari enthusiast, car collector and guitar legend, Eric Clapton before passing hands latterly to The Who’s formidable writer and performer, Pete Townsend. A Rock Star car in many respects, the 550 model heralded a return to front engined Ferrari manufacture some 23 years after the last production front engined Ferrari, the 365 GTB4 Daytona. The 550 title derived from an engine displacement of 5.5 litres, the Barchetta’s V12 unit produces 478bhp and propels the car through its manual 6 speed transaxle, on to a top speed of 186 mph.

Finished in classic Blu NART with Tan hides, this open car is equipped with a fitted Tonneau cover and removal canvas roof. Superb in all respects, the current condition of this rare RHD Barchetta is a tribute to its former keepers, whose careful use and attention to the car is evident.

Supplied with original Ferrari book pack and service book, original tools and a comprehensive history file, we wonder which star will next claim ownership?
