In 1996 Ferrari introduced the 550 Maranello to the public, used as a top model and as the 'successor' of the Daytona. Equipped with a 5.5 liter V12 (485 hp) in the front, coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox, intended as a 'softer' GT, it took the place of the F512M. Although, soft: various (private) teams used the 550 Maranello for GT and Endurance races (FIA GT, 24 hours of Lemans) and Prodrive developed these cars. A total of 3000 copies were produced.
We regularly see a 550 Maranello in our showroom. This silver gray 550 was delivered new in the Netherlands at Ferrari Kroymans. It must have been a fantastic moment for the first owner, who was able to collect his car from the dealer in Hilversum. The buyer has opted for a subdued but fresh silver-grey paint. It gives the Ferrari a beautiful timeless look and the paint is also in excellent condition. That is not a big surprise with a mileage of 74,133. Indeed, this 550 Maranello has not felt a lot of Dutch asphalt slip under it.
And that is quite a shame because the mighty V12 is of course only in its element if it is allowed to do its job. 5,474 cc capacity to produce a fantastic and naturally aspirated 485 hp. This gives the Ferrari a top speed of no less than 320 km/h and the manual Italian sprints to 100 in 4.4 seconds. In some tests in magazines from that time, that sprint was completed even faster. However, it is mainly the sound that is formidable, what a great power source this pure and excellent sounding V12 is. On the road with the twelve-cylinder is even more fun because the 550 is equipped with a manual six-speed gearbox with the well-known shift pattern. The gearbox is, just like the engine, in a very good condition and the car has been dealer maintained.
The interior of the 550 is just as neat as the exterior and the technology. Stylish black-upholstered seats invite you to take a seat and treat the occupants to considerable lateral support. Sitting on the spot, the Ferrari offers a view of a beautiful dashboard. Many counters and meters, many push and turn buttons. The pièce de résistance is of course the beautiful aluminum gear knob and the corresponding shift pattern. Everything around you is in a very healthy condition and befitting the very low mileage of the Italian coupe. We certainly don't have to tell you that the functionality of everything is equal to the appearance: absolutely top.
The car comes with the beautiful and original leather case with all the books that belong in it. Of course also the instruction book and the maintenance book, neatly stamped by the dealer. The tool kit is also present.
This 550 Maranello is a very pure car in everything, a car without surprises, in a popular color combination and low kilometers in combination with very good maintenance. In this condition, they are starting to run out a bit.
