Built from 1976 to 1981, the 512 Berlinetta Boxer (BB) was a more refined version of the 365 GT4 BB Ferraris first mid-engine, 12-cylinder production car. First shown at the 1976 Paris Motor Show, the 512 BB largely maintained the original Leonardo Fioravanti design, aside from a different rear-end treatment and a new front spoiler to reduce lift at speed. Displacement also increased from 4.4 to five liters, making the car more tractable, thanks to a significant boost in low-end torque. In total, 929 examples were built before the fuel-injected BBi was introduced.

According to Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, this 512 BB was completed on December 17, 1979, finished in Nero (Black) over Crema (Cream) and sold new to Ferrari Club Modigliani in Italy. Exported to the US and federalized by Classic Coach Repair Inc. of Elizabeth, New Jersey, the Ferrari passed into a private collection in the early 1990s, where it benefited from sparing use over the next 30 years. Presented today in traditional Rosso Corsa (Racing Red), the Boxer is offered with its handbooks, tool kit, jack, and spare, and displays charming period features like a US-mandated 80 mph speedometer, Akleptos alarm system, and Blaupunkt radio. Since being acquired by the consignor, the 512 BB has benefited from an engine-out timing belt service completed in December 2024. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer displayed 11,521 km (approx. 7,159 miles). The 512 BBs represents a significant turning point for Ferrari, as the last of the marques legendary carbureted V-12s.
