Description

Chassis No. ZFF90HLA9L0253897

Since the 360 Challenge Stradale of 2003, the Prancing Horse has offered track-oriented, production variants of its V8-powered models that epitomize the essence of their racing counterparts – prioritizing lightness, increased power, and maximum rigidity. Taking the lessons learned from the single-marque Ferrari Challenge International Championship and the FIA GT Championship, Ferrari's subsequent performance variants have included the 2007 430 Scuderia and the 2013 458 Speciale, arriving at the most recent special series variant, the 488 Pista ("Track" in Italian), in 2018.

The track-ready evolution of the 488 would continue the practice of adapting racing innovations and aerodynamics for road use, taking inspiration from its 488 Challenge and the 488 GTE sports prototype siblings. This is most apparent from looking at the Pista's exterior which sports a Formula One-inspired front S-Duct first utilized on the 488 GTE, as well as a GTE-derived "double kink" rear diffuser and larger "dolphin-tail" rear spoiler. Together, these aerodynamic enhancements resulted in a claimed 20 percent increase in downforce. Inside, a sparce, carbon-fiber-laden interior lacked sound deadening, contributing to some 198 pounds in weight savings and a visceral experience behind the wheel. Underneath the Lexan rear window rested a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged V8 – the 488 GTB becoming the first model to utilize such a layout since the iconic F40 in 1987. Numerous improvements over the 488 GTB's V8 such as relocating the air intakes to the rear and fitting a larger intercooler resulted in a remarkable 50 horsepower increase, making it "the most powerful V8 engine in the Maranello marque's history."

Ordered with over $175,000 in options, this highly customized 488 Pista is finished in the stunning and extremely rare Extra Campionario (special order) color of Grass Green. A vibrant color perfectly suited to this track-based special, it closely resembles Viper Green, a Porsche color first offered in the early 1970s. Complemented by dual Nero racing stripes, this example features carefully selected factory options including 20-inch single-piece carbon fiber wheels (offering an additional 22 pounds in weight savings) and many exterior carbon fiber upgrades perfectly suiting this unique specification. Optioned with an equally stunning interior, occupants are greeted by special Matte Green carbon fiber interior trim and "large size" carbon fiber racing seats featuring leather Nero upholstery and Verde accent stitching. While the 488 Pista is clearly at home on the track, this superb example offers many welcome luxury amenities including a Suspension Lifter, Parking Camera, Adaptive Frontlight System, Radionavi System with Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay. With each of these painstakingly and well selected exterior and interior choices, this Ferrari is essentially a bespoke, one-of-one example.

Offered in excellent condition with just over 1,000 miles at the time of cataloging, the Ferrari is offered with two keys, a car cover, a tire inflator, owner's manuals, a tool kit, and gloves. Furthermore, in preparation for sale, the car visited Continental Autosports of Hinsdale, Illinois in July 2024 for an Annual Service and software update, an invoice for which is on file. This is an excellent opportunity for a collector to acquire one of Ferrari's most exhilarating offerings in an outstanding color combination – surely one of the finest and most unique to emerge from Maranello in recent years.
