In the early 1970s, Ferrari developed a new platform to succeed the crowd-pleasing 365 GTB/4 Daytona. The 365 GT4 BB, launched at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, brought with it Ferrari’s first mid-mounted 12-cylinder engine. This model established the “Berlinetta Boxer” nickname embraced by the successful family of cars that would follow—despite the fact that its 4.4-litre flat-12 was not a true “boxer” design.

This 365 GT4 BB was completed on 5 June 1975 and sent to the supplying dealer, Auto Becker of Düsseldorf, Germany. This car left the factory with Azzurro paintwork and Beige leather upholstery. According to the consignor, the first owner wanted a gloss black car but could not order one, so—with the help of his Ferrari Club President—bought this car and had it resprayed, though retaining the Beige interior and Blu carpets. The Ferrari was purchased by Monsieur Petitjean in 1978 and during his ownership, the car has been fitted with rear rims from a Ferrari 512 BB and clad in competition Michelin TD9 tyres. The odometer displays just 25,278 km at the time of cataloguing, and the car will require recommissioning before returning to road use. The car is presented for sale with a jack, tool kit, and a leather pouch with the user’s manual and an spare parts catalogue dated July 1974.

La 365 GT4 BB, lancée au salon de Turin 1971, introduisit le premier moteur 12 cylindres Ferrari monté en position centrale. Ce modèle inaugura aussi l’appellation « Berlinetta Boxer » attribué à toute une famille ultérieure de voitures qui connurent le succès bien que ce moteur 12 cylindres de 4,4 litres n’eût pas été un véritable type « boxer ».

Cette 365 GT4 BB achevée le 5 juin 1975 fut livrée au distributeur allemand Auto Becker de Düsseldorf. La voiture sortit d’usine peinte en bleu Azzurro avec intérieur en cuir beige. Selon le Vendeur, le premier propriétaire aurait voulu une finition en noir brillant, mais il ne put l’obtenir, si bien qu’avec l’appui du président de son Club Ferrari, il acquit cette voiture et la fit repeindre tout en conservant l’intérieur beige et les moquettes bleu. La Ferrari devint en 1978 la propriété de M. Petitjean qui la fit équiper de roues arrière provenant d’une Ferrari 512 BB chaussées de pneus Michelin TD9. Le compteur n’affiche que 25 278 km au moment de son inscription au catalogue, mais la voiture nécessitera une révision avant de reprendre la route. Elle est accompagnée du cric, de la trousse d’outillage et d’une pochette en cuir contenant le manuel d’utilisation et un catalogue de pièces de rechange daté de juillet 1974.
