Description

The 330 GTC was debuted at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. The elegant Pininfarina styling drew heavily from the open-topped 275 GTS while combining elements of the flagship 500 Superfast’s graceful roofline. Compared to the 275 GTB, with its classic long-bonnet/short-deck proportions, the new grand touring coupe possessed an airier cabin, although the model’s taut, compact dimensions hinted at its performance capabilities.
The 330 GTC’s gorgeous styling was backed by Maranello’s latest iteration of the Colombo short-block engine, a 3,960-cubic centimetre single-overhead camshaft V12 fed by triple Weber carburettors that was capable of developing 300 horsepower. Like the 275 GTB, the GTC had a rear-mounted five-speed transaxle to balance weight distribution, and suspension was achieved by independent wishbones and Koni dampers at all four corners, with powerful disc brakes all around.
With such potent mechanicals and elegant styling, the 330 GTC came together with a particular harmony that made the model one of the finest grand touring cars ever built. Comfortable, fast, and ergonomically practical, the 330 GTC is today regarded as a benchmark of 1960s Italian sports cars, engineered to cover long distances at high speed while cosseting occupants in a richly appointed cabin. Between 1966 and 1968 just 598 examples of the 330 GTC were produced.
This left-hand drive example was delivered to its first owner a Mr Milos in January 1967 via Paris based dealer Franco-Britannic Autos. After 17 years of ownership, it was purchased by Jean-Francois Thoviste, of Boug-de-Thizy, France. Thoviste would go on to own the car for the next 31 years, driving it at the Ferrari Days in Modena, Italy, in 1983. The car accumulated a total of 15,000 kilometres before it was sold once more in 1997 in Paris to a gentleman who used it sparingly and kept it in a museum alongside a collection of other special Ferraris.
It was purchased by its current and fourth owner in 2013 who over recent years has treated the car to a full restoration with Ferrari Leqoc Paris. As well as a full mechanical overhaul the car also received a bare metal respray in Nero 1250 and the interior was retrimmed in a stunning shade of Pelle Orange. A significant amount of time and money has been lovingly poured into the car and it drives as well as it looks. The car retains its matching numbers chassis, engine and gearbox and was awarded Ferrari red book Classiche Certification in late 2022.
The 330 GTC offers a truly fantastic driving experience, coupling practicality, luxury, and the performance one would expect from a 12-cylinder Ferrari. Contact us now for more information or to arrange a viewing.
