Throughout the 1950s, Ferrari's 250 Series enjoyed tremendous success, both on the track and in the showroom. In the late 1950s, it was decided that Ferrari would develop its first true 4-seater to help broaden the market of potential buyers. The Ferraris from the 250 series used two types of chassis; a short version (94.5 inches) or the long version (102.4 inches), on which the GTE was built. It used the same Colombo (Tipo 128 F) 3.0-litre V12 engine as much of the rest of the 250 range. Today, the 250 GTE 2+2 remains an elegant, smooth-running and important piece of Ferrari's automotive heritage.
The Ferrari offered by us has been restored in the past with an eye for detail. It has a very extensive well-documented history, consisting of a file with i.a. workshop invoices (worth more than €41,000) and a valuation report.
The colour combination is also very tasteful, the bodywork is painted in 'Grigio Scuro'. A very nice combination with the Tobacco leather interior. The dashboard is very beautiful as well with the many beautiful counter instruments and the wooden steering wheel.
The chrome from the bumpers to the window frame is in good condition as well. The rare exterior mirror and the spoke wheels complete the picture.
This GTE was sold new to its first owner on 15 March 1963.
This 250 GTE was registered in The Netherlands in 2005. Prior to this, the car was registered in Belgium.
The bodywork of this Ferrari is sleek and flawless. The doors, sills, mudguards, bonnet / engine bonnet and boot lid have a good fit.
The paintwork is in good condition.
The Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 is an important vehicle in Ferrari history with a small number of surviving specimens.
