Clothed in stunning Pininfarina-designed coachwork, built by Scaglietti, the Dino first debuted as a design concept, known as the 206 S Speciale at The Geneva Motor Show in March, 1965. Several years later, it entered series production with the 206-specification, two-liter engine. After a short run of 150 cars, the 206 GT was updated in 1969 with a larger 2.4-liter motor, which was a displacement that remained unchanged until the Dinos discontinuation in 1974, ending with the equally spectacular 246 GTS. The Dino demonstrated impressive balance during tight handling, thanks to its near-even weight distribution, which was a dividend of the race-proven rear-mid engine placement.
This European specification 246 GT was completed at the factory, January 1971 and delivered the Ferrari main dealer in Rome, S.r.l. di Carla Allegretti e C. It was turned over to its first registered owner, Mr. Sinatra, an attorney living in Rome. In 1975, this 246 GT had moved to Switzerland, at the time in the ownership of Mr. W. Senn, a resident of Lucerne, Switzerland.
In early 1988, this Dino was exported from Switzerland and imported to the United States and being offered for sale through well-known and respected Ferrari franchise dealer, Alberto Pedretti's Wide World of Cars, Spring Valley, NY/USA. Subsequently sold to Mr. Lance Smith, Burlington, VT/USA, it was serviced and cared for by well-known and respected Ferrari Specialist, Peter Markowski, RPM Motors, Vergennes, VT/USA.
In 1989, this Dino GT was in the ownership of, Mr. Tim Hunt, Richmond, VT/USA. Kept in Mr. Hunts ownership through 2002, it was then sold to Mr. Timothy J. Limehouse, a resident of Summerville, SC/USA. A this time, the 246 GT was serviced and maintained by Karl Troy of European Road and Racing in North Charleston, SC/USA.
March 2005 saw this Dino GT being sold to its most recent long term owner, Mr. Tim Gallagher, Asheville, NC/USA. While in Mr. Gallagher's ownership and collection, this Dino was this 246 GT was cared for religiously with yearly servicing, regardless of use. Throughout Mr, Gallagher's ownership, and already in excellent condition throughout and with limited mileage to date, it has been serviced and sympathetically restored, when and where needed. It has excellent paint (after being completely repainted, the entire exterior has been covered in clear PPF), interior, the suspension and brake systems have been completely rebuilt, its engine and gearbox have been rebuilt by marque specialists and in the most recent years, it has been been maintained yearly by Ferrari of Atlanta.
An exceptional 246 GT in its original color combination, matching numbers engine and gearbox and with extremely low miles from new, this Dino comes complete with original factory books, pouch, spare wheel/tire assembly and extensive ownership, service and restoration file.
