Description

  • Sought-after four-speed Pont-a-Mousson manual gearbox
  • Presented in its factory-correct colour combination
  • An elegant Franco-American grande routière for all continents

Founded in 1939, Facel (Forges et Ateliers des Constructions d’Eure-et-Loir) was the brainchild of Jean Daninos. After taking the reins in 1945, the Parisian-born engineer designed the Vega, which was introduced in 1954 and featured Chrysler V-8 power. Built by hand, the Vega was an expensive automobile, but proved popular among wealthy individuals who appreciated both luxury and exclusivity. Such was the impact of the model that the company was renamed Facel Vega in 1959, coinciding with the launch of the HK500, notable for its early adoption of disc brakes.

Just 202 HK500s were built in 1960, making this example—chassis BE8—something of a rarity. The car was sold new in France, and in 1966 was bought by its second owner and relocated to Haute-Garonne. They kept the car until 1978, when it was discovered and purchased by entrepreneur Andre Trigano; it remained in his care until his collection was sold in 2020. Though re-finished in black during his ownership, it has since been returned to its factory-correct colour combination.

Chassis BE8 presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most exclusive and opulent French automobiles of the 1960s, with the added appeal of the sought-after Pont-a-Mousson manual gearbox.
