Description
In the land of Uncle Sam, any self-respecting sports car must have a very large engine and it is common to say that ‘only juice and milk come in 2 liters’! The legendary Viper is the best example of American excess when it comes to engine size, as under the long bonnet there is an 8.3-liter ten-cylinder block!
Despite its humble roots, it delivers 506 HP and 711 Nm, more than enough to reach 100 km/h in 5 seconds and reach an impressive 314 km/h.
The Viper may not be a traditional Muscle Car, and it even has honors in Le Mans Series, but it should be treated with caution, as the driving aids are limited to ABS. The chassis is competent, with independent suspension on all four wheels, and the 345mm wide Michelins on the rear axle give good grip, but if the accelerator pedal is pressed too hard, this rattlesnake will bite!
It is a car full of character, for experienced drivers who appreciate pure, analog driving, and who can't do without the power (and violence) of a big engine.
If its 'reptilian' lines are truly captivating, with air intakes and outlets that highlight its aggressiveness, the interior is, in contrast, unpretentious but focused on the driver and with roots in competition. The dashboard is quite simple but is flanked by a 'ramp' of pressure gauges that allow complete control of all parameters of the powertrain. The buckets are excellent, both visually and in terms of ergonomics, and complete an almost perfect driving position.
This Dodge Viper SRT-10 is an exclusive example for the European market and was sold new in the Netherlands in January 2005. It has clocked just 10,000 km (6,000 miles), is delivered with all manuals and duplicate keys and is an excellent collector's item for those who want a truly visceral driving experience.
