Description
In the early 1950s, Dunlop was developing a new type of tyre, which was then to be tested on challenging conditions of the Rally Monte Carlo. A very experienced crew of Roger Crovetto and Julio Quinlin were chosen for this purpose. Both had in that time already a lot of experience and they even won this rally it in the past. As a car, they chose beautiful and well performing Delahaye 235 with Coupé body built by Antem.
Unknown to have survived, this Delahaye chassis number #818036 was after the rally recommissioned and sold to private owner from Paris, who kept the car until 1958. That year was offered for sale and bought by American inventor and sculptor Mr. La Haye (known for inventing parts used widely in the aerospace industry). He owned the car for his whole life and kept it in unrestored, good running condition.
Today this automobile is offered for sale for the first time in 60 years. The automobile is complete and comes with comprehensive dossier and some really nice period pictures. With only 2 owners since new, this Delahaye represents a unique opportunity to own a car with great racing history which is able to take part in major world events, such as the Rally Monte Carlo Historique.
