The De Tomaso Pantera originated in 1971 from the fiery imagination of the Italian-Argentinian entrepreneurial visionary Alejandro de Tomaso.

It is considered by industry experts to be one of the best GTs of the 1970s, so much so that it obtained surprising results in all of the period's most difficult competitions.

The unit on auction is the highest evolution of the 'Paneta 90' or 'Pantera SI' model, of which just 41 were made.

The design was entrusted to Marcello Gandini, and was not just a restyling but a bonafide update to the chassis, front and rear suspensions, braking systems (with front discs from the Ferrari F40), cockpit, interior and many other details, such as a refined automatic climate-control system.

For the mechanics, a 5.0-litre Ford engine was chosen, expertly tuned at the factory, allowing the car to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.3 seconds, with a max speed of approx. 270 km/h.

Those who are familiar with and have driven Panteras immediately feel the significant difference in the Pantera 90's drivability and grip, which were already exceptional in the previous version.

It is worth noting that in 1994 a Pantera 90 took part in the challenging Le Mans race, obtaining results that could have been very promising alongside the official teams, but encountered some technical issues which prevented the validation of the obtained results.

Never registered

In 1995, however, it won the British GT Championship!

This is last unit built, and it has never been registered. The car is new and has travelled just 8,000 km for the short trips necessary to participate in various exhibitions and meetups.
