Description
CITROËN TYPE A TORPÉDO
French title
Chassis n° 20243
Engine n° 4944
- Older restoration, frame upwards
- Original engine
- Particularly sought-after model
Launched in 1919, the Citroën Type A is none other than the very first Citroën produced. As such, it constitutes a model sought after by all connoisseurs and enthusiasts of the brand.
The example on offer left the Javel factories on March 12, 1920, as Aventure Peugeot Citroën DS has confirmed to us. Copies of period documents indicate that it was registered in the Loire region in 1924 and belonged to a mechanic who lived in Panissières. The copy of an old title establishes that the car was still registered in the Loire region in 1978, the year during which it changed hands to another collector in the same department who kept it until 1994. It then joined the collection of Monsieur Thanry. The car has benefited from a careful old restoration chassis upwards: the paint is of good quality, the upholstery has been redone in black leatherette, and the wiring harness has been restored with cotton thread. It is fitted with its Michelin rims as originally designed. As the car has not been driven for more than 10 years, it will need a complete overhaul and a restart. We noted that the dynamo drive was missing. This interesting Type A is sure to appeal to connoisseurs, and there are not that many beautiful examples around.
