The story of the Citroën 15 Cabriolet is a novel to be savored with relish. Before the war, the Michelin family placed a special order with the Citroën factory on Quai Javel for a 15/6 cabriolet. It seems that 6 cases were produced in 1939. Unfortunately, the war slowed down the project, and only one body was assembled that year, two others being stored in the factory cellar. Only three authentic 15/6 convertibles survived. One of the three was sold by our House in 2015 for 612,440 euros.
The car we present is the property of a marque enthusiast. Unable to afford one of the three authentic models, he decided to have an identical one built. To this end, a 1951 sedan was sent to a renowned coachbuilder, to be rebuilt as closely as possible to the original. In 2017, once the work was completed, the car was homologated to obtain a Cabriolet" registration document. At the same time, the mechanics were overhauled and the electrical system was upgraded to 12 V with an Alternator.
Seven years after completion, this Traction has covered just 40 km and is in good overall condition. The upholstery is in good-quality leather, and the soft top is in lined alpaca.
With road-holding qualities far superior to those of a 4-cylinder, this 15.6 cabriolet is one of the closest to authenticity that we've been able to sell.
