The Citroën Rosalie was presented at the 1932 Paris Motor Show. The car is called by its number of tax horses as was customary at that time: Citroën 8, 10 or 15 depending on the engine chosen by the customer. As for the name "Rosalie", it is only a nickname given to the car and was only very rarely used by Citroën in its communication. The Rosalie 8 CV was equipped with a four-cylinder in-line system and a 1.34-metre track. The Rosalie 10CV was equipped with a four-cylinder but with a track widened to 1.42 metres, as was the Rosalie 15CV, which was equipped with an in-line six-cylinder. However, not everything is that simple because Citroën makes its production profitable, and some Rosalie 10 and 15 were manufactured with 1.34 metre tracks, they are called 10L or 15L (for Light). As for the bodywork variants, the Rosalie was available in sedans, convertibles, coupe, and even commercial vehicles to cover all the automotive markets of the time. Citroën will try to boost the Rosalie range with a sports programme aimed at breaking the average speed records set by little Rosalie in 1933: 300,000km are covered at an average speed of 93km/h on the Montlhéry ring.
The chassis presented in these pages is a rare 6 cylinder narrow gauge version. It was equipped with a van and had been completely restored to accommodate a convertible or coupé body. Absolutely everything has been redone by professionals, justified on invoices. The engine has been reviewed by Patrice Camerano of the company "Tous les moteurs" based in Champigny sur Marne. The car is sold with its wings and front apron as well as all its chassis and engine plates. It is very rare to be able to buy a base already restored from A to Z of a narrow 6-cylinder engine chassis. The amount of invoices already exceeds the proposed low estimate!
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
