Description

Belgian title
Chassis No 4494163
Engine No DX2 0573007982

- Restored by Philippe Losson in 2008
- Rare manual transmission version
- The most successful DS convertible version

It was from the 1968 model that the new radiator grille with 4 headlights below the DS bubble appeared, of which directional headlights never ceased to impress the public. This aesthetic amendment is integrated on the entire range, including convertibles.
As stated in its Chapron certificate, chassis No 4494163 was delivered to the coachbuilder's workshops in Levallois on 13 September 1968 in order to get a cabriolet bodywork installed in stellar white colour, combined with red leather interior. A HiFi car radio complemented the standard equipment and the car, bearing the number 9270, was delivered on 29 October that year and invoiced 3 days later. As for the 1969 model, the production of the DS cabriolet was limited to 47 examples, of which only 5 were equipped with the manual gearbox like this particular one.
Registered in Aveyron in 1994, the car changed ownership in 2008 and was restored at that time by the renowned specialist Philippe Losson. A file with the list of work carried out is included: full disassembly and reassembly of the vehicle for the restoration of the paint, chrome and black leather upholstery, hood and carpets. The work also included a complete servicing of hydraulic and mechanical parts, the replacement of the engine with a DX2 engine, fitted with an injection system, which has been restored. The father of the current owner acquired it in 2010 at the Salon Retromobile and since, this beautiful convertible has only been used occasionally. Its elegant metallic dark grey colour goes particularly well with its black leather upholstery, while the dashboard is presented in the desirable and sporty Jaeger version. The rarity of its front end with covered headlights and the manual gearbox is combined with the performance and ease of use of this injection engine, while retaining the elegance of the design and the production quality of the Chapron coachbuilder.
