Description
"The 1959 Citroën 2CV, affectionately known as the ‘Deux Chevaux’ was an iconic and revolutionary car. Designed for post-war France, it boasted a simple yet functional design, capable of traversing rough roads with ease. Its air-cooled 425cc engine generated a modest 9hp, but its lightweight construction and advanced suspension system provided unparalleled comfort and adaptability. The 2CV's distinctive corrugated body and removable fabric roof added to its charm. This utilitarian vehicle became a symbol of practicality and affordability, winning hearts worldwide. Its legacy endures, celebrated for its unique character and innovative approach to accessible transportation.
This early and rare ‘ripple’ bonnet example is in good order throughout and although showing evidence of an earlier restoration, the work has been undertaken sympathetically retaining originality. This AZLP model is distinguished by the strip of aluminium on the bonnet and boot lid panel. We are informed that the dashboard main panel and controls work well including the speed related windscreen wipers, with the speedometer being subject to a recent overhaul. The seats, carpets and door cards present well and complement the paintwork and canvas roof. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, YXG 210 is a practical way to travel with charm in abundance."
