Description

Chassis No. 7801539

Body No. CCS-615-CG

Powered by Chrysler's new 385-cubic-inch straight-eight engine, the CG Imperial delivered 125 horsepower and impressive performance, capable of speeds over 90 miles per hour. It featured Chrysler's "Floating Power" engine mounting system for reduced vibration and a smooth ride, paired with a four-speed synchromesh manual transmission. The Imperial also included a range of luxury features, including adjustable front seats and steering column, wire-spoked wheels, safety glass, automatic heater control, and Lockheed hydraulic brakes.

The 1931 Chrysler Imperial Close-Coupled Sedan, one of the most elegant models in the Imperial line, was meticulously restored by specialist Curt Austin at the request of retired Chrysler executive Darrell Davis. The three-year, exhaustive restoration, completed in 2000, earned the car multiple first-place awards at concours events, including Best of Show at the Hilton Head Concours and a National First-Place award with the Classic Car Club of America after a remarkable 100-point score. Other accolades include an AACA Senior National Award and the coveted AACA President's Award.

The exterior of the car is resplendent with full whitewall tires on chromed wire wheels, accenting its elegant two-tone gray exterior and a matching interior. Painted metal covers for the side-mounted spares, a rear trunk, and authentic LeBaron chromed accents contribute to its classic style. Details on the way to such exceptional showings include Duplate safety glass, a Waltham dash clock, Depress Beam headlamps, body-colored radiator louvers, and dark gray wheels with silver spokes, all enhancing the car's timeless and award-winning appeal.

With only 185 miles since its restoration, this elegant and sporting 1931 Chrysler Imperial Eight Close-Coupled Sedan is a prime example of one of Chrysler's most extraordinary offerings.
