"A discernible improvement on its predecessor, the fifth generation or C5 Corvette was introduced in 1996. Commendably light and stiff, its hydroformed box frame chassis played host to composite transverse-leaf independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Powered by a new alloy 5.7-litre LS1 V8 engine, initially rated at 345hp/350lbft, the power plant was increased to 350hp/365lbft for the 2001 model year. The C5 Corvette Convertible was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds and 164mph.
Offered in metallic silver paintwork over a black leather interior, this Corvette is presented with factory fitted lightweight alloy wheels and upgraded brakes and is showing circa 103,200 miles on the odometer. Purchased by our vendor from a repossession auction in the U.S. the Corvette has subsequently been imported to the U.K. and is accompanied by a history file containing the import paperwork and proof of U.K. taxes paid. Interested parties should note that although the relevant taxes have been paid the Corvette will require registration here in the U.K. and as such is being sold without a U.K. V5C registration document.
