The success story of the Corvette (The All American Sportscar) took on a new chapter when the C3, or the third model, was introduced in 1967. A rugged design that immediately and unquestionably should be classified as a tough muscle car, even at that time. A scarce amount of chrome, a silhouette that more than ever resembles the classic Coca-Cola bottle, and powerful engines: and with that a new success story for the brand was born.

1969 was the first year in which the 350 cu was made available, in this case with 300 hp. This 5.7-liter V8 engine is paired with a hydra-matic automatic transmission with four speeds, so we can guarantee that this Corvette provides a lot of fun. We Europeans sometimes have the prejudice that there is 'no speed' in those big Americans, but in 1969 a sprint to 96 km/h (60 miles per hour) in 6.4 seconds was far from childish!

This very dark green, almost black Corvette was first registered in 1969 and is a 1970 model year car that was presented that year, featuring Stingray logos on the front bumpers and modified door panels. Not only the paint color, but also the interior, executed in Saddle (colour code 420), is very stylish. A not very common combination that works surprisingly well in the Corvette. For years, a C3 was mainly favored in bright, vibrant colors, but now the American is truly becoming a classic, and more luxurious, understated color combinations are becoming increasingly sought after.

It quickly becomes apparent that this Corvette is in very good shape when it comes to its overall condition. In the past, the Corvette was resprayed, and it is neat to say the least. The few body seams present are narrow and even, and the doors close nicely and easily. The dark green colour makes the chrome, which is subtly present compared to the C2, stand out beautifully.

The interior is also in excellent condition. The upholstery is clean without any damage. The dashboard and door panels are all very neat. Options included electric windows and headrests, with the former providing extra comfort and the latter adding some extra safety. The latter was especially important in those days; nowadays, very few people feel invincible with headrests that reach the shoulder blades.

Where the C2's dashboard had a kind of Jukebox appearance, the C3 features a lot less shiny chrome and aluminum. Two large meters placed quite low behind the steering wheel and a group of small information providers in a black plastic panel in the middle of the dashboard. Further to the right are storage compartments designed to ensure that small pieces of luggage remains inside the car and not carried away by the wind.

The 'Vette' drives as a Vette should, with the V8 roaring loudly and very pleasant driving characteristics that strike a balance between sporty and comfortable. The 5.7-liter eight-cylinder engine is very responsive.

The combination of the color and the execution make this a very desirable C3. If you still need that final push, we warmly invite you to come to Brummen; in reality, it's even more beautiful!
