Guide price: £50000 - £60000.

Left-hand drive, 327cu.in (250bhp) V8, 4-speed manual transmission, PAS, front disc brakes

An older restoration that still presents really well

Imported into the UK in 2017 with all taxes paid and is ready for registration

Number plate in the photos does not form part of the sale

Everyone should own a bright red Stingray at some point

Now in its seventh generation, the Corvette began life in 1953 with the C1 - a model that inspired a generation of young Americans and gave the Ford Empire a nine-year headache. However it was the C2, the immortal Sting Ray produced between 1963 and 1967, that really set Chevrolet's cash registers ringing and left us with the most desired and collectable Corvette to date. Designed by Larry Shinoda under the guidance of the legendary Bill Mitchell, influences on the Sting Ray's unique and unforgettable form are said to include: the E-type Jaguar, a Mako shark once caught by Mitchell, the 'Q Corvette' concept car of 1957 and the 'Mitchell Sting Ray' design exercise. By the autumn of 1959, elements of the two unique Corvettes had been built into XP-720 - the design programme that led to the production of the Sting Ray as we know it.

Offered here is an iconic ‘Little Red Corvette’ finished, naturally, in Riverside Red with a Black Vinyl interior. Dating from the second year of C2 production, 1964, it's left-hand drive and fitted with the standard 327cu.in (250bhp) V8 and manual transmission. In the past it has been restored to a very high standard but is by no means a ‘trailor queen’ The interior is very pleasing in standard finish black vinyl and has a very original feel without any noticeable wear. The engine bay is most impressive without being over-detailed and illustrates the 'no-nonsense' approach to the whole restoration. An excellent example of how an original car should look without the inappropriate 'bling' often added during the restoration of Americana. With its four-speed manual box, front disc brakes, and power-assisted steering the car is said to drive exceptionally well.

Accompanied by its Kentucky title certificate, this Corvette was imported into the UK in 2017 with all taxes paid and is ready for registration with its NOVA Certificate. The registration plate in the photographs bears no connection with the car and was simply attached for photographic purposes.

The Corvette Stingray is almost certainly on most peoples top ten classic car wish lists, particularly a C2 in bright sparkling Red, and this one is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner …. turn up the ‘soundtrack’!
