Produced from 1950 to 1981, the Chevrolet Bel-Air took its name from an upmarket area of Los Angeles. The second generation (1954-1957) was characterised by sharper front curves and receding rear wings, a better integrated and more discreet radiator grille, and still plenty of chrome reminiscent of the splendour of American cars of that era. But it was above all under the bonnet that the change was made: a V8 (carburettor) was offered alongside the in-line 6. The car was discontinued in the US in 1975 and in Canada in 1981, to be gradually replaced by the Chevrolet Impala. The Bel-Air's strength lay in its ability to combine mass production with a wide range of unique customisation options, both in terms of engines and bodywork.
The model presented here was imported into France in 1955 by General Motors, making it a rare American of French origin. The car is presented today in its factory configuration, with its original interior well preserved. The paintwork was redone a few years ago and has a lovely patina. Our Bel-Air is equipped with the majestic 165bhp 4.3-litre V8, accompanied by the 2-speed Power Glide automatic gearbox, a rare option on this model. This Franco-American is a rare model on the French market, especially in this configuration. With this proud Bel-Air, you can take the whole family out for a drive in comfort worthy of today's cars, if not better!
