Description

Chassis No. N6282380

The original Protect-O-Plate reveals that this 1966 Cadillac Calais Hardtop Sedan was ordered new by Stanton A. and Abigail B. Conwell of Walnut Creek, California, in October 1966. Its trim tag shows the vehicle was configured with a Sandalwood (42) exterior and a Dark Gold Delrio Cloth and Light Gold-coated fabric (244) interior. The original build sheet from Cadillac shows that it was equipped with power windows, signal-seeking AM radio, Soft Ray glass, power seat adjuster, door guards, and automatic climate control. It is noted that President of the Academy of Art University, Dr. Richard Alan Stephens purchased this car in 1966 and has been held within the Stephens family since then. Additionally, a parking permit issued by the Department of Defense in February 1988 and still affixed to the windshield indicates it was registered for use at the Naval Weapons Station (WPNSTA) base in Concord, California.

As presented today, the car remains in largely original condition. What is believed to be its original Sandalwood paint shows a charming level of aged patina. The original Dark Gold Delrio Cloth and Light Gold-coated fabric interior still present impressively well inside. Under the hood, the engine compartment retains a high degree of original details throughout. Completed by a set of California black plates, this 1966 Calais Hardtop Sedan offers a high degree of compelling originality for any full-size Cadillac enthusiast.
