Bugatti proved to the world with the original Veyron 16.4 that is reigned supreme in the hypercar world, but indeed the French company had more tricks up its sleeve. Adding another 200 bhp allowed the car to reach a top speed of 415 km/h, a speed at which would force the 100-litre fuel tank to run dry in just 10 minutes. Styling remained largely the same, albeit with a few subtle differences. Bugatti’s trademark horseshoe grille was enlarged and a new front bumper, both which allowed for greater airflow and cooling to the brakes and radiators and different air intakes to cool the engine can be found at the rear.
The 38th Veyron Super Sport built and the sixth delivered to Switzerland, this Super Sport boasts a fascinating specification that truly needs to be seen to be appreciated. Finished in Chocolate Brown with black exterior accents, including a black horseshoe grille, wheels, fuel filler cap and rear emblem, the theme carries through to the interior as well. With a brown upper dashboard and door panels, the remainder of the interior is trimmed in Cognac leather. Furthermore, the interior is fitted with luxury seats rather than the more commonly seen sport seats.
Acquired by a prominent Dubai-based collector, it resided in his large collection of supercars for a number of years prior to returning to Europe early last year. Having only been driven less than 2,600 km since leaving the assembly line in Molsheim, it is presented today in excellent condition throughout, ready to be driven and enjoyed as its manufacturers intended.
With McLaren F1s now truly within the realm of blue-chip collectible, this makes the Veyron and its derivatives look like exceedingly good value. Offering the very best in terms of refinement and excellent performance, there is no doubt that the Veyron is not only a car that can deliver world-beating performance by every standard, but a car that is engineered and designed to be driven on a regular basis. The 1,200-hp Veyron Super Sport is a car with few peers and one that will remain adored by owners and enthusiasts for generations. The opportunity to acquire a low-mileage example in a unique specification should not be overlooked. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa19.
