Description
Of the 67 Bristol 408 Mk1 built, only three examples were equipped with left hand drive. This car, chassis number 7055, was first registered on the 17th February 1965 and left the works heading for Beirut. The early history of the car is not known until in 2010 it was taken over by the vendor directly from Bristol cars Ltd. There, the 408 had been under restoration since 2008 and after taking possession of the car the vendor decided to have his GT modernised somewhat while keeping its original appearance. The following jobs included installation of a GM “Performance parts” LS3 6.2 litre V8 with 495 hp coupled to a suitable four-speed automatic gearbox with overdrive. The braking system was adapted to the increased performance by installing AP racing components and the complete suspension was overhauled and optimised. The body was completely stripped and repainted in the actual dark blue. The interior was renewed with grey leather and for increased comfort a power steering, air conditioning and a central locking system were installed. After its completion in 2014 the Bristol was imported into Switzerland and after a nerve-wrecking procedure and issuing of a FIVA ID in the D3 category, registration could finally be accomplished in December 2020. Total cost for this unique adventure stood at around 300’000 Swiss francs, which included import and registration. We now present a unique chance to acquire a very rare classic with a modern heart and feel and with a Swiss registration as a bonus. The last MOT of this unique example was completed in December 2020.
