Description
A Re-Imagined Icon
Based off of the BMW Z07 concept and inspired by the iconic 507, the Z8 was built to showcase BMW's talents in producing a pure sports car. Designed by the legendary Henrik Fisker and powered by the formidable S62 engine, the Z8 provided one of the most engaging driving experiences in one of the most beautiful forms ever created. Debuting in concept form at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show and beginning production in 1999, 5,703 Z8's were produced with only 2,543 coming to the U.S.
This Car’s Past
This BMW Z8, with only 1,940 miles, has had only one owner since new before being traded in to a new car dealer in February of 2016. This Z8 is complete with all of the items that were originally delivered with the car. All Z8’s came with a matching hard-top, and this example comes with it’s original one and it’s stand and cover. Also included are the parade boot and bag, the original flip phone, all four navigation CDs, stereo CD, the portable BMW flashlight, CD changer cartridge, owners manual, Service booklet, one valet key and two remote keys, Ipod adapter, the removable cup holder, and both floor mats. Everything is in perfect working condition and there is no damage history.
History of The Model
At the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show, BMW debuted the Z07 concept car which was inspired by the legendary 507. With the overwhelming positive response to the concept, BMW decided to produce a limited production version of the Z07. The production team was headed by Chris Bangle with the exterior of the car being designed by Henrik Fisker, a man that has designed some of the most beautiful cars of the modern era. The Z8 was powered by the 400hp S62 V8, which was built by BMW Motorsport and shared with the E39 M5. Equipped with a six-speed manual and with perfect 50/50 weight distribution, the Z8 was one of the fastest and best handling production cars of the era.
Condition
This car, with only 1,940 miles since new, is exactly as delivered in 2001. Still complete with all delivery items and with no damage history, it is as new.
Market Trend
With only 2,543 Z8’s produced for the US, the prices have been moving up steadily over the past few years. As these were primarily purchased by enthusiasts, there are very few still with low mileage and even fewer in as new condition. There has been an enormous surge in interest in BMW M cars as of late, and especially in the limited editions. The Z8 is considered one of the most significant and beautiful cars that BMW has produced, and this is an opportunity to purchase one of the finest examples.
Summary
The Z8 was a car produced from passion and built by a legendary team of designers. The massive impression the car created at the time only increased over time, as the car became a modern day classic. The beauty of the lines combined with its impressive power and handling, make this one of the most important cars of the modern era.
