BMW Launched the i8 to much acclaim in 2014, its butterfly doors and modern styling captivated the motoring press. Thanks to a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 155mph the i8 had the power to match its looks. The combination of combustion engine and electric drive meant that the i8 had torque in abundance but thanks to that combustion engine being a 1.5-litre unit sourced from the MINI, fuel economy was not compromised.

In 2018, thanks to increased demand for its carbon-tubbed hybrid-electric sports car, BMW launched the i8 Roadster. Whilst the 1.5-litre 228BHP engine was left untouched improvements were made across the platform.

The front battery pack was upgraded with a unit with more dense cells, this resulted in increased storage capacity from a hair over 7kwh to 11.6kwh, all of this resulted in a real world improvement of all electric range from 20 miles to 33 miles and a modest power boost of 12bhp.

You would be forgiven for thinking it would be a simple move to make the i8 coupe into a roadster but in reality, Bavarian engineers had to work particularly hard to ensure that structural rigidity was retained and that the trademark butterfly doors were still functional.

This particular i8 Roadster is finished in E-Copper with Frozen Grey Metallic Accents over an E-Copper Exclusive Natural Leather interior. It was first registered in March of 2019. The car was supplied new to the Berry BMW dealer principal and in March 2019. It was bought right at the beginning of lockdown by a great client of Duke’s with a notorious car collection. They have enjoyed their time with the car but having just supplied them with another vehicle, this i8 had to go to make space.

Today it has covered just 5,175 miles from new and benefits from the fitment of a SmarTrack 5 which ensures protection against theft thanks to its UK and Europe wide Vehicle tracking, Guard and Recovery service.

Being the Berry BMW dealer principal’s own car, the car had pretty much every box ticked on the option list. The spec is vast and outlined below, testament to what makes this already special-low-mileage example truly unique. From what we can see, this is the lowest mileage, highest spec Roadster available anywhere in the country today.
