The BMW 850 CSi stood at the pinnacle of the 8-Series lineup, representing the brand's most exclusive and performance-focused grand tourer of the mid-1990s. Developed by BMW's Motorsport division, it featured a distinct 5.6-liter V12 producing 380 horsepower, paired with a six-speed manual transmission to emphasize its sporting nature. Enhancements included a stiffened suspension with electronic dampers, sharper steering, and a lowered ride height, complemented by wider wheels, quad stainless-steel exhaust tips, and reshaped aerodynamic bumpers. Production of the 850 CSi was short-lived, ending in 1996. With only 1,510 examples produced-just 250 of these reaching the U.S.-this model remains exceptionally rare.

Produced in April 1995 for the U.S.-market, its BMW Classic Birth Certificate confirms this rare 850 CSi was ordered in the exceptionally rare share of Alpine White with a Nappa leather two-tone interior in Light Silver-Grey. Already extremely well-equipped, options included an M leather steering wheel, Fine wood trim, and preparation for a six-disc CD changer. The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report records the car was first sold in New York state registered in June of that year. Further ownership is listed in California, Colorado, and then Kansas by 2009 with approximately 60,000 miles. At that point a Dinan suspension with shock absorbers, coil springs, and swaybars had been added. A major BMW dealer service was performed that year and in 2010, the exclusive grand tourer returned to New York.

Today the V12-powered GT is offered with just over 68,000 miles, a laminated copy of its BMW Classic Birth Certificate, tools, owner's manual in its case, and copies of previous service history. As one of the last true, naturally aspirated grand tourers developed under BMW's classic "driver-first" philosophy, the 850 CSi is an emerging collectible and a highly sought-after piece of the brand's storied history.
