BMW had been cherishing ideas for a top range coupé for a number of years and finally, in 1984, the go-ahead was given for the project codenamed E31 - a sporty and luxurious coupé that was to give BMW a place among established names such as the Mercedes-Benz SL and Porsche 928. BMW spared no trouble or expense to achieve this goal. The first running prototype cost no less than 2 million Deutschmarks (€1,000,000) and each of the next 100 test vehicles were not much cheaper. The development costs of the 850i alone are estimated at 1 billion Deutschmarks (€500,000,000).

This BMW is in completely original condition (engine, transmission and interior are all original). The car starts immediately and idles nicely at 800 rpm (the engine sounds a bit heavy, this should inspected) and it brakes properly.

The car comes with about $50,000 (!) worth of maintenance bills from the BMW dealer. This proves that the car has always been maintained with love.
