Description
Like the majority of the 7’267 FX3’s built, this car started its life as a London cabby where it was first registered on the 11th of March 1954. After passing into private ownership in 1985, the Austin was taken over by the vendor in June 1995, collect by him personally and transported on a flatbed to and imported into Switzerland. Unfortunately the Austins condition was not really good and therefore the coachwork and all the mechanical bits were overhauled with a lot of effort by the vendor himself over the next year. The rotten mud guards could not be saved and were replaced by polyester replacement parts and the coach work was completely repainted. The 2.2 litre petrol engine was overhauled and the interior was recovered in light beige leather. On the 10th of July 1996 and around 40’000 Swiss francs later, the FX3 was finally accepted, MOT’d and registered by the responsible authorities. Since then, the taxi has seen little use and was occasionally hired for weddings. Since its registration in 1996, only 3’100 miles have been added. Currently the Austin is in technically good condition with minor corrosion damage to the coachwork and somewhat average paint work. The last veteran MOT was completed in November 2017.
