Description

The Virage was launched as the top of the range car for Aston Martin back in the late 1980s and it is easy to see why. The aluminium coachwork, hand-beaten and sculptured into a naturally aggressive stance married to a strong, hand-built 5.3 litre, V8 engine elevated this high-performance GT car to near supercar levels. One noted journalist indeed was quoted at the time “that the acceleration just never seems to run out”. The interior, also, was a delightful place to inhabit with numerous leather hides applied to the luxurious cabin making the journey to 160mph nothing less than an uncorrupted pleasure.

This lefthand drive model, presented unusually in Snowdon White, was originally clearly an export example destined for Kyoto, Japan according to its chassis records. Since then, it has made its way back to UK shores whereupon NOVA duties have been paid and it has been re-registered back with the DVLA and correct plates attached alongside an MoT test certificate valid for almost six months. With just one previous owner recorded in accordance with the clean HPI certificate, this car also benefitted from air-conditioning, a high-end Kenwood stereo and an alarm according to the associated Aston Martin build records. In fact, it was Rowan Atkinson who publicly noted that he was surprised that his own car had a warm footwell within 90 seconds. Additional modern upgrades included electric & heated seats, electric mirrors and windows. All four alloy wheels and Bridgestone tyres are in good order although the black leather seating with contrasting white piping would benefit from some leather food in places although the overall condition is sound. The walnut dash and door cappings with associated inlays are in excellent condition and the interior overall is in good order although it should be noted that, at time of writing, the information binnacle is non-functioning and a decent service would be recommended. A generally sound example however with which to begin to generate a new life around. Consigned by Edward Bridger-Stille
