Description
1973 Aston Martin V8 Vantage – RYJ128M
Chassis Number: V810779RCA
We are proud to offer this 1973 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, a rare and highly original example finished in its factory correct Sable Brown. This car presents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a well-documented and mechanically sorted classic Aston Martin with an extensive history file, fitted with it’s extremely rare and original manual gearbox.
Chassis 10779 originally left Newport Pagnell on the 3rd August 1973 as a RHD UK car, before later spending time in Hong Kong and then being exported to Singapore in 1996. It returned to Europe in 2015, where it was converted to LHD specification by Aston Martin specialist’s, Stratton Motor Company. It has since been inbetween storage in the UK and Belgium, before being most recently brought back to the UK in December 2024. Despite its travels, this V8 Vantage has always remained a UK-registered vehicle and retains its original documentation. The history file dates back to it’s original sale, with every new owner and their time with the car fully documented, prodiving a fascinating story of the car’s history.
Throughout its life, the car has been meticulously maintained, benefiting from multiple mechanical overhauls to ensure it remains in excellent running order. As mentioned, in 2023, it underwent a professional left-hand drive conversion by Stratton, completed to an exceptional standard at a cost of approximately £30,000. The conversion was carried out with a new (and very rare) steering rack to maintain the car’s original driving characteristics whilst making it more practical for continental use.
Further maintenance highlights include:
New sills fitted in 1995, which are still in very good condition to this day, as with the rest of the bodywork.
Comprehensive service records, including an extensive history file with invoices dating back to its original sale.
A large collection of MOT records (approximately 20-30 in total), with the most recent recorded at 33,642 in 2016.
The car was carefully stored between 2019 and 2021, preserving its condition. During this period the car underwent a light mechanical overhaul.
The current mileage reading stands at c. 34,000, which is documented and can be verified. The car retains all original trim and components, including its workshop manual and original price list.
With only a handful of owners from new, this Aston Martin has an intriguing past, including ownership by a former RAF Red Arrows pilot. It also retains its original Singapore logbook, adding to its impressive documentation and provenance.
Unlike many restored examples, this car remains in its original, unrestored condition, making it an appealing and authentic example, wilst also in a very useable and complete condition after many mechanical overhauls over the last few years. The combination of well-documented history, originality, and the very rare manual gearbox makes this an exceptional opportunity to own a genuine Series 2 V8 Vantage with a fully documented history.
