In 2009, Aston Martin decided to revive the Lagonda brand to venture into different segments than their usual 2-door sport models. Harking back to 1906 as an ultra-luxury brand, Lagonda was acquired in 1947 by David Brown, who also bought Aston Martin. From 1976, Aston Martin used the Lagonda name to market a technologically complex luxury saloon, but due to their hefty price tag, only 645 units were produced until the model’s retirement in 1990.
In 2014, the first Lagonda Taraf in over a decade made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Targeted mostly at the Middle Eastern market, the revived flagship retailed for $1M and offered a carbon-fibre body, Aston Martin’s signature 6.0L V12, and a world of luxury in its long-wheelbase interior. Performance-wise, the Taraf showed respectable figures: 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, and a top speed of 314 km/h (195 mph), better than its considerably heavier competitors, the Bentley Arnage or the Mayback 62 S.
The Lagonda Taraf’s limited sales success meant limited production numbers: our of a planned 200 cars, only 120 units were made by hand between 2015 and 2016.
We are proud to present this elegant late-production example, originally delivered to Kuwait. With less than 100 kilometres (62 miles) on the clock, this Gulf-specification Lagonda Taraf still delivers unparalleled luxury and exclusivity at a fraction of the original cost, while still being a brand new car.
