The company was founded in 1919 as the automotive section of one of Italy's most important mechanical companies, Ansaldo, following the reconversion of wartime production after the First World War. In order to survive, it launched itself into a reconversion in the civil field and tried the motoring path. The car manufacturer suffered a first major crisis in 1921 following the bankruptcy of the Banca Italiana di Sconto, the company's main shareholder, so much so that on 7 March 1923 it changed its name to S.A. Automobili Ansaldo. The crisis of 1929 and above all the management's inability to understand the needs of the market at the time led Ansaldo towards liquidation. The Ansaldo Tipo 10 was a small car designed by a company already in deep crisis. An excellent engine was combined with a chassis simplified to the point of having a transverse front leaf spring.
The wonderful example we present here has been entirely restored by its owner over many years of passion. It is part of a rich collection of classic cars with attention to the most hidden details. It has not been used for a number of years (although the engine is regularly started and run) and now requires a general overhaul and a complete service, and may require additional unforeseen mechanical work. The rear body is made of fibreglass and has the classic sofa in the trunk compartment called the 'mother-in-law's seat'. Present is its original page booklet and the ASI Gold Plate and FIVA IDENTITY CARD for participation in sporting events.
