Description
Alfa Romeo began building light trucks in 1954 with the introduction of the Autotuotto or “all-purpose” vehicle. The model continued to evolve through several iterations and multiple configurations of cargo and passenger vans, as well as pickup trucks, through the 1983 model year. By 1967, the F12 had made its debut, featuring a 1.3-liter engine and distinguishable by its wider, modernized front grille.
This 1973 F12 Furgone (Van) was used as a race support vehicle for the Moto Villa motorcycle racing team from the early to the late 1970s. Moto Villa dominated the 250 cc motocross racing class and were Campione d’Italia (Champions of Italy) in 1975, 1976, and 1977. The F12 was placed in storage until 2016, when it was purchased by noted Alfa Romeo restorer Ed Seymour, from whom it received a nut-and-bolt restoration. Later, it became part of a noted Southern California collection, where the restoration was further refined. The red and white exterior is decorated with removable Alfa Romeo racing department Autodelta livery. Restored to show standards, it is certainly one of the finest examples of an Alfa Romeo light truck. Additionally, the Furgone is offered with a restored and rebuilt 1958 1,300 cc 750-Series Alfa Romeo engine and four-speed gearbox mounted to a skid in the cargo area. Worthy of a place in any collection, it is an immensely attractive prize to any Alfisti.
