After Alfa Romeo had stunned the world with the 8C Competizione, it was only a matter of time before a soft-top version was made. The Italian marque teased a roadster concept at the 2005 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and three years later the Geneva International Motor Show played host to the launch of the production version, of which 500 were slated for production. Aside from the electrically operated fabric roof, the Spider featured revised suspension geometry and carbon ceramic brakes to differentiate it from its coupé sister model. The 8C’s operatic 4.7-litre V-8—sourced jointly from Ferrari and Maserati—was unchanged at 444 brake horsepower with a factory-rated top speed of 292 km/h.

This example was ordered by the consigning owner from Fiat Group Automobiles Austria GmbH on 17 December 2009, believed to be the only 8C Spider delivered to the country. The Alfa Romeo was configured in Rosso Competizione with matching red brake callipers. A black leather interior is complemented by carbon fibre-effect trim found on the centre console and door cards, and a black soft-top hood. Showing just 344 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, the 8C has been sparingly used by its only owner, remaining largely unused since November 2011. In March 2023—after 12 years in storage—the car was serviced and had new tyres fitted by Keusch GmbH, the Maserati dealer in Vienna, at a cost of €6,000.

A soul-stirring technological marvel, this barely used 8C Spider is sure to attract the attention of countless Alfa Romeo enthusiasts.
