The 8C Competizione served as a standard-bearer for a new era of Alfa Romeo. Such was the rapturous reception for the concept car, revealed in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, that bosses at the Italian marque had their hand forced and 500 units of the 8C Competizione went into production. The 8C was built to the style of Wolfgang Egger’s vision from the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo design room.

This example was first delivered to Japan, finished in grey. In 2016, it was sent to Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera for a rework of its exterior and interior aesthetics. The exterior was repainted in the special-order shade of Rosso Stratosfero—this car is believed to be the only 8C finished in this hue. Inside, the car was treated to enhancements inspired by the Disco Volante—an earlier product of Alfa Romeo’s exploratory relationship with Touring—with body-coloured air vents, door cards, and seat rests, hand-milled aluminium door handles, and a black anodised upper dashboard. This transformation took eight weeks and cost €34,720.

The car is documented to have been maintained by marque specialists, with the last major service by Garage Intini, Luxembourg, in February 2022, at a cost of €6,248. Its odometer reads just 9,907 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. The Alfa Romeo is accompanied by a luggage set and a spare set of 10-spoke alloy wheels.

While any 8C Competizione is rare, this Touring Superleggera-refined coupé presents an opportunity to acquire a true one-off.
