By the late 1980's, ABS (Auto Build-Up Services Ltd.) completed and manufactured a high-quality example of the Scorpion kit car, albeit, at a price. Two versions were offered; the Scorpion, a fully enclosed cockpit, and the Monaco, an open top offering. To achieve the strength required for the convertible, partners that had worked for the Chevron and Shadow racing teams designed the space frame chassis. Not only would this chassis handle superbly but would also increase cabin space for improved driver and passenger comfort over the original. The ABS Scorpion kit car was produced from 1986 until 1991 with American V8 power. The car was made to be able to accept a range of V6 and V8 engines which gave the car a fantastic performance due to their light weight.

This 5.7 litre V8 example is presented in metallic Candy Apple Red (micro blistered) with a contrasting cream leather interior trim. Supplied with the original order sheets, brochures and sales correspondence. Upon order it was specified with the 'Executive Kit' and there is a raft of invoices in the history file to denote. The Executive Kit included the bodyshell fitted to the chassis, doors hung and as much of the electrical and initial build completed by the factory on top of the standard options. A 5.7 litre Chevy V8 was mated to a UN1 transaxle gearbox, offering 300+ bhp when built. We are informed this example sounds and goes as good as it looks whilst understandably turning heads wherever it goes. Offered with a V5 registration document from the Scorpio doner vehicle, original parts and price lists, this is a stunning example of a part factory-built ABS Scorpion also boasting a period correct alpine stereo. Interested parties should note that this example is currently incorectly registered as the donor vehicle a 1993 Ford Scorpio and offered with a new MoT test certificate obtained in February.
