Elegant and rare Morini 3½ .1981

When he decided to found his own brand in 1937, Alfonso Morini already had solid experience in the motorcycle world. The man began working in a repair shop in 1914 where he exercised his talents as a mechanic. Morini first took the direction of mass distribution with models inspired by the DKW RT 125 before deliberately moving into the world of competition with the release of the Rebello RT 125 that he entrusted to the pilot Tarquino Provini. In 1952, the Rebello was extended to a range of roads and was a success.
In 1969, Alfonso Morini disappeared and left his daughter Gabriella at the head of the firm. The following year, the designer Franco Lambertini from Ferrari will give a new lease of life to the brand's design. Some time later, 3½, a V-twin with rocker arms, will be unveiled and will be available in many versions and sizes.
The range continued to expand until the 1980s with the 125 and 250 models and then with the Dart in 1991. Nevertheless, the economic recession of the 1980s put the company at risk and in 1987, Gabriella Morini sold the brand to the Cagiva group. The company survived as best it could and ended up in 1996 in Ducati's hands.
Our meticulously preserved frame n° 20341 with only 14 778 Km on itstacho was delivered new on 18/04/1981 in Perugia in southern Italy. Its air-cooled twin cylinder engine produces 27 horsepower. Italian documents

Lorsqu’il décide de fonder sa propre marque en 1937 Alfonso Morini dispose déjà d’une solide expérience du monde de la moto. L’homme a en effet débuté dans un atelier de réparation en 1914 où il exerce ses talents de mécanicien. Morini prend d’abord la direction de la grande diffusion avec des modèles inspirés des DKW RT 125 avant de s’orienter délibérément dans le monde de la compétition avec la sortie de la Rebello RT 125 qu’il confiera au pilote Tarquino Provini. En 1952, la Rebello se décline en une gamme de routières et connaîtront un certain succès.
En 1969, Alfonso Morini disparaît et laisse sa fille Gabriella à la tête de la firme. L’année suivante, le designer Franco Lambertini issu de Ferrari redonnera un souffle nouveau dans le design de la marque. Quelques temps plus tard sera dévoilée la 3½, un V-twin à culbuteurs qui marquera les esprits et sera décliné en de nombreuses versions et cylindrées.
La gamme ne cessera de s’accroître jusque dans les années 80 avec des modèles 125 et 250 puis avec la Dart en 1991. Malgré tout, la récession économique qui touche les années 80 met à mal la compagnie et en 1987, Gabriella Morini cède la marque au groupe Cagiva. La société survit tant bien que mal et finit par atterrir en 1996 entre les mains de Ducati.
Notre exemplaire cadre n° 20341 méticuleusement conservée n’ayant que 14 778 Km à son compteur fut livrée neuve le 18/04/1981 à Perugia dans le sud de l’Italie. Son bicylindre refroidi par air développe 27 chevaux. Documents Italiens
