Description

c.1957 Mondial 250cc Bialbero 4-valve Prototype Racing Motorcycle
Registration no. unregistered
Frame no. Unable to locate
Engine no. 118

At the end of the 1957 season, Gilera, Moto Guzzi, and F.B. Mondial withdrew from Grand Prix racing, leaving the field open to MV Agusta. Had Mondial chosen to continue, it is possible it would have used machines based on this prototype. According to our vendor, the 250cc Mondial offered here is a works prototype built in 1957 for the 1958 season by Nerio Biavati (formerly Mondial's chief mechanic) and Dino Gilli. The only one of its kind made, it features a bialbero (twin-cam) 4-valve cylinder head with gear-driven cams, designed by Biavati and machined from solid. This restored machine was formerly part of the Enrico Bernardi Museum collection in Italy. No Documents.

As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
