Gilera, one of Italy's most famous motorbike manufacturers, took the opportunity to introduce its own model scooter in 1962, called the G50, which was aesthetically very similar to the Vespa but technically very different. It had a 4-stroke engine, positioned on the left-hand side (opposite to the competitor made by Piaggio) as well as a crank; it remained in production until 1968 with 15,000 vehicles produced, many of them for export. Restored and presumably never used since. A general mechanical check is recommended before use.
