The 1961 BMW R27 is a prime example of the precision engineering and reliability for which BMW motorcycles are famous today. This bike, which became famous for its use by the GNR during the Estado Novo, features a 247cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine with an output of approximately 18 horsepower at 7,400 rpm.

It was distinguished at the time by its rubber engine mounts, known as 'silent blocks', which significantly reduced vibration, offering a smoother and more comfortable ride. The R27's transmission system was also innovative, as it used a shaft to transmit power to the rear wheel – one of the hallmarks of BMW motorcycles.

It was also equipped with a telescopic front fork and rear suspension with a swingarm, which contributed to stability and safety when cornering.

This R27 was sold in Portugal in 1961 and has recently undergone a complete and meticulous restoration that has far exceeded its commercial value. All components have been dismantled and rebuilt, including the beautiful chrome wheels with new spokes, and the engine runs like clockwork.

Having been awarded several first prizes at events in Spain, France, England and Germany, it is the ideal bike for demanding collectors!
