The FT Wally Grand Prix Series is a new series of races for the world’s largest fleet of Maxi racing yachts, to take place between April and October in some of the Med’s most glamorous sailing locations.

The teams comprise top sailing talent from the America’s Cup and the Olympics, including Loïck Peyron and Francesco de Angelis, together with prominent ‘captains of industry’ – hence involvement from the Financial Times newspaper, which has joined forces with Wally to launch the new racing series.

As FT Weekend Editor Caroline Daniel puts it, “Maxi yacht racing is the only arena in which top businessmen and top sportsmen compete side by side, so the series is a natural fit for FT Weekend.”

The first race took place during the PalmaVela, from 20-24 April, in Palma de Mallorca, with the next race scheduled for 6-8 May in Portofino, Italy. Full details can be found at www.ft.wally.com or at www.wally.com.
