The joy of being connected to the world of cars and motorsport is being able to explore the thousands of disciplines, sub-cultures and events that surround this ever-growing world. When it comes to events such as InterClassics, though, you can expect to be treated to a variety of road and race cars that is truly unlike any other event, and it seems this year’s event will be no exception.
Now in its eighth edition, InterClassics Classic Car Show Brussels will be held from Friday, 17 through Sunday, 19 November 2023 in Halls 4, 5, and 6 of the Brussels Expo. Emphasis over the years has shifted to the influx of young-timer classics, and this show welcomes the enthusiasm with open arms, dedicating a section of its 40,000 square metre layout specifically for cars such as the Mitsubishi Evolution, BMW E36 M3 and many more be displayed and admired.
As well as the more modern cars, the event with pay special attention on the 24-hour Le Mans race, one of the key events of the year, and one we are still reviling in after that enthralling victory from Ferrari. For motorsport fanatics, expect to see some of the finest cars to ever turn their wheels on the iconic circuit, ranging from a 1930 Talbot 90 PL2, golden-era Ford GT 40s from 1968, and right through to the mighty early 2000s Cadillac Northstar and recent racers like the Toyota GR010 Hybrid. As the central theme of this year’s event, visitors can expect to feel the 100th anniversary of Le Mans celebrations to the fullest, likely for the last time in 2023.
Exhibition manager Erik Panis further explains the lengths the team are going to: ‘We are pulling out all the stops and building a replica of the world-famous circuit at the Brussels Expo patio, including the grandstands and grid. I have already seen some photos and can assure you that it’s going to look fantastic. The Le Mans feeling is guaranteed to rise to the surface. During a virtual race on the Le Mans circuit using professional simulators, our visitors can discover whether a career as a professional race driver is something for them. That’s how much fun it will be!’
Away from the Le Mans celebrations, expect to surround yourself with more than 400 exhibitors spread over the exhibition space, the event expects to see over 30,000 car enthusiasts descend on Brussells over the weekend. Belgium will be represented strongly, too, with D’Ieteren Luxury Performance, the largest importer of luxury and sportscars in the country showing an impressive presence at the show.
While the event focusses on the classics, there will be some exciting premieres at InterClassics too. For years, Koen Wauters and Pascal Feryn of Team Feryn were a familiar sight at the Dakar Rally, participating in this gruelling event twelve times. Now, after a roller coaster journey, the pair will be participating in the Africa Eco Race for the first time in January 2024 with a brand-new car, which will be unveiled at InterClassics.
