It’s the race that every driver wants to win. Forget Monaco in the rain, forget the unforgiving Spa Francorchamps, winning the Le Mans 24hr Endurance Race is the ultimate display of a driver and team’s determination to endure whatever this gruelling circuit throws at you. It’s utterly inconceivable to us and so many fans that this iconic race turns 100 years old in 2023, where we all can only imagine what that starting grid must have looked like back in the roaring 1920s. Throughout those decades, there have been countless cars that have found glory along the way, some of which now sit proudly on Art & Revs stand at this year’s Rétromobile.
Among the smattering of vibrant liveries and sticky tyres are race cars that cover the last three decades of racing at Le Mans. From the incredible 1991 Jaguar XJR-14, to the iconic 2015 Alpine A450b, Art & Revs have carefully curated these seven cars to showcase the variation often found in the French race. Perhaps most notably, the stand includes the never seen before duo of the Audi R10 & R18 LMP1, both proudly donning the #1 race number. For the gamers, the ORECA PlayStation Viper sits proudly near another American machine that triumphed at the French circuit, the Pratt & Miler Corvette C5R. Of course, many of these cars hold with them unique memories from racing, but the three times Le Mans veteran and finisher in 1992-93-94 factory Toyota 92CV, might just hold the most. It is one of the only two in existence, with the other one permanently residing at the Le Mans Museum.
