In addition to its two, well-publicised DB Aston Martins, H&H has an Italian front-engined exotic with space for four: the 1974 Lamborghini Espada estimated at £18,000 - 20,000.
Said to be ‘previously owned by Bono of U2 fame’, the powder blue – with blue leather interior – car marries generous interior space with a Giotto Bizzarrini-designed 3929cc V12, a five-speed gearbox and Bertone (by Marcello Gandini, no less) bodywork. It’s a lot of dramatic-looking V12 Lamborghini for the money.
The venue for H&H’s April sale will be the magnificent Royal Hall of the Harrogate International Centre. Fifty-seven cars will be auctioned at an event that also includes automobilia and motorcycles. The latter category will be highlighted by a pair of Suzukis ridden by Barry Sheene, and Joey Dunlop’s World Championship-winning 1982 Honda RS1000. Within the motor cars, there’s a broad selection of classics including rarities such as the 1971 AC 428 (£36,000 – 40,000), an automatic car with, reportedly, just 57,000 miles from new.
Another unusual entry is the 1956 Bentley S1 Saloon, with coachwork by Freestone & Webb. Now ‘now running and driving, but in need of restoration’, the elegant four-door would make an attractive, reasonably priced addition to any Bentley collection. ‘No Reserve’ is the estimate, so over to you.

1966 ASTON MARTIN DB6 SHORT CHASSIS VOLANTE - £300,000 - 350,000
Headline billing, of course, must go to the two six-cylinder Aston Martins. The 1966 DB6 Short Chassis Volante is new to the market and carries an estimate of £300,000 - £350,000, while the 1962 DB4 Series IV Vantage is one of just 45 cars built - rarer, indeed, than a DB4GT. This car is priced at £200,000 - £240,000, and that money will buy you a nice sporting car in which to celebrate the DB4’s 50th anniversary this year.
For the record, the Vantage model carried a triple-SU Special Series engine, oil cooler and DB4GT instrument panel as standard. The auction car, chassis DB4/952/R, is the only one of the early cars equipped with the optional overdrive and limited-slip differential too. And, yes, it is painted in Silver Birch, thus appealing to the inner secret agent in us all.
1962 ASTON MARTIN DB4 SERIES IV VANTAGE - £200,000 - 240,000
It wouldn’t be an H&H auction without a good selection of pre-War cars that included at least one Lagonda. So, present at Harrogate will be a 1937 Lagonda LG45 Drophead Coupé, for £80,000 - 90,000, as well as other older cars such as the 1932 Delage D6 Faux Cabriolet (£34,000 - 36,000) and a 1936 Daimler Light Twenty Sports Saloon (£6,000 - 7,000).

Finally, do have a look at the 1970/199 Ferrari 246 Dino '206 SP' Recreation. Carrying an estimate of £44,000 - 48,000, the little car is based on a genuine 246 Dino with the V6 now longitudinally-mounted in a replica homage to the 1960s 2-litre sports prototype.
Before the motor cars, registrations and motorcycles, H&H will sell over 250 lots of automobilia, including Assorted Monaco Ephemera: ‘A wonderful selection, to include four gala dinner menus (one example signed by Brabham), a quantity of original black/white photographs, believed taken in the 1960s, and primarily covering BRM subject matters, together with four first-day covers and an invitation to the event.’
